About Me

Hey there people and/or non-people, you clicked “about” so you obviously want to learn a little about me, so here it is:

My earliest memory of school is:
My earliest memory of school is back in grade one when me and my friends had a “big” project of
building a tower out of blocks, and weeks building it as tall as possible.
I learn best when/by:
I learn best when something is explained and/or shown to me but also when I’m not treated as an
My worst trait is:                                                                                                                                         My worst trait, in my opinion is that I’m not critical of myself as much as i should be. Even though that is very contradictory, I feel that really is my worst trait.                                                                  My best trait is:                                                                                                                                     According to the opinion of others, I am intelligent, I find it hard to believe it to be my best trait, but I won’t look a gift horse in the mouth.

I often wonder:
I often wonder about the size of the universe and how could it possibly be infinite,
The hardest thing I’ve ever done was:
When i was 8 years old I was dumb enough to try ski down a run called “Bloody Hell”, it took me
twenty minutes to get down and i was almost in tears at the end.
The last possession I would give up is:
The last possesion I would ever give up would be my dignity, I would give up my money, nice clothes
even my karate (One of my greatest passions) but I would be fine with just my dignity.
This term I am looking forward to:
This term I am looking forward to socialising with new people and improving my overall social skills.
What image would you put on a postcard of Melbourne? Why?:
I would put a picture of the bustling outside Flinder St because it is an iconic area, all
Melbournians know the place.
Which Melbourne person would you most like to sit next to on the tram? Why?:
I wouldn’t want to sit next to everyone, I’d prefer to sit alone in my own comfort pondering about
all sorts of useless things.
If you could invite any 3 people from history to dinner who would you invite? Why?:
I wouldn’t invite anybody for several reasons. The first would be the massive cultural difference.
The second would be the general idea that these people have already achieved something and I have
nothing to my name. The last would be that we would have nothing to talk about.
Describe Melbourne in three words:
Coffee, Diversity, Bustling.

  1. Hi David,

Your dinner party description made me laugh – I love how clear your rationale for NOT inviting anyone is – do you think it could be interesting to watch a potential culture clash play out over dinner? Perhaps your role would be more of a facilitator teasing out commonalities than having to feel pressured into presenting your accomplishments…

How did you guys manage to protect your tower from being knocked over?

I agree with you about dignity – it’s a terrible thing to lose – or to feel that you have lost. Having worked with people experiencing challenges like homelessness and disability, I’ve seen how debilitating it can be emotionally when someone feels like they have no dignity [either in their eyes or in the eyes of society]. When my grandmother went into a nursing home, she also felt like her dignity got snatched away from her…

I’m looking forward to getting to know you better over the term – I’ve already decided that I enjoy your humour 🙂
